It took me WAY longer than what it should have to automate my labeling solution. For years I printed my shipping labels from my desktop printer and used tape or shipping windows to send my items out on their way.

I hesitated with the investment of a label printer because I was content with the solution that I had. It worked. Slow, messy sometimes, but it worked – and I was okay with that. But over time I began to realize the importance of time and as of late, I am trying to find efficiencies in everything I do. Afterall, time is money!

Before I splurged for the Dymo I did my due diligence. I researched competitors and inundated myself with all types of reviews and product feedback. What it ultimately came down to for me was choosing between the Dymo and Rollo Printer. The Rollo Printer had better reviews as compared to the Dymo but what swayed me to purchased the Dymo was comparing the overall average of the reviews based upon the quantity of reviews received. The Dymo’s review wasn’t as good as the Rollo, but at the time, had three times the amount of reviewing contributors. Not to mention, many of the tenured resellers I follow have recommended it, so this made me feel confident in choosing this option.

Okay, enough about the why, let’s get in to the good stuff – was it worth it?!

If you’re like anything like me, you like to skip right to the finale, so YES, buying the Dymo was absolutely an amazing decision. Read on to find out why.

CLEAN & ORGANIZED

Printing from my desktop, cutting out the label and then taping it to the package or using a shipping window created a big mess. If I had a good amount of shipments to get out, I would end up with a huge pile of paper and tape to clean up which was a pain in the butt. It’s also extremely wasteful which I didn’t feel good about. With the Dymo (or any label printing solution) it’s just a peel and stick process, simple and no mess.

TIME

Okay, so this part has a positive and a negative. I love that I can print labels quickly, it just takes a second or so to spit out the label. It cut my order packing time in half. What I dislike is that the Dymo cannot connect via bluetooth so that means I have to power up my laptop, get in to my email and then print the labels from there. I used to print from my cell phone directly to my printer, so this does add an extra step to my process. I have heard of some workarounds to get the Dymo to print wirelessly, however, I have not tried this myself so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of that potential solution.

TECHNICAL ISSUES

Before I used the Dymo, I can’t tell you how many times the printer would jam or I would run out of ink (or paper) in the middle of the night. Seriously, the WORST. Though I have read and heard about end users receiving errors or jams with the Dymo, I have yet to experience any of that so far. From the time I unboxed the product to today (about 30 days later) I haven’t experienced any technical issues with the Dymo. The setup process is pretty straight forward and only took about 20-30 minutes to download the software and get things all connected to my laptop. Pretty painless.

I will say that having a label printer is not an absolute requirement if you are just starting out with your business. You can get by (as I did) without one. But if you are looking to improve your process and save some time, this is absolutely an excellent product to have. It’s a game changer when it comes to speeding up your packaging time.

I’m really happy with the purchase and would recommend the Dymo to any sellers interested in improving their shipping process. It makes things so much more streamlined. Labeling Solutions aren’t cheap, that’s why I justified my manual system for so long. But you have to consider that it’s truly is an investment in to your time and to your business. So if you’re on the fence and aren’t quite sure if it’s worth it, it really is!
